*A rush of warm, pumpkin-spice scented air rushes to greet you as you enter Bandwidth and Brew. The latest college football game plays on the cafe’s TV as customers sip on their frothy drinks or dig into delicious-looking pie.
Eager to ask about the addition to pie on the menu, you cross over to where Dashboard faces away from you, busy rolling out dough for crust and enraptured by the game playing overhead.
You call out a greeting to the barista.*
Oh!
*Dashboard swings around towards you, and you have to stifle a laugh after seeing the barista’s “Hug the Chef” apron.
Dashboard sets down the rolling pin, takes off the apron, and walks forward to the counter.*
Welcome to Bandwidth and Brew: where we serve your weekly scroll fuel no matter how you take your brew!
During the holidays, I occasionally like to use the cafe’s ovens to showcase my baking skills. For Thanksgiving, I like to make some of my world-famous pies!
Would you like to try one of our cranberry pies?
*Curious, you ask Dashboard to share more about the pie with you.*
Not going to lie, you’ll either love it or hate it.
On The TODAY show, Martha Stewart- a lifestyle expert- was brought on to share her insights on Thanksgiving. Aside from sharing some of her favorite recipes including a Cider-Bourbon Cocktail and a Honey Squash Pie, Stewart shared some hosting tips as well, including when to serve dinner.
According to Stewart, the perfect time to serve Thanksgiving dinner is 2 p.m.
Stewart shared with TODAY that everyone is hungry around 2 p.m., and that it gives enough time for fun, football, drinks, and dessert afterwards.
However, not everyone was on board with Stewart’s advice. Some commented that they would still be cooking dinner at that time, and others claimed that, for parents of toddlers, 2 p.m. is nap time.
Though Stewart’s advice had controversy, many agreed with the lifestyle influencer. A few even stated that a 2 p.m. dinner gave time for a leftover feast later in the evening.
What do you think? Is 2 p.m. too early for Thanksgiving dinner? Or do you agree with Martha Stewart? Is it the perfect time?
*Dashboard slices into a pie sitting behind the counter, and loads it onto a plate. While you ponder the barista’s question, Dashboard hands you over the plate.*
You, of course, need something to wash that down with.
*Dashboard grabs a mug shaped as a cornucopia and begins to fill it with steaming apple cider.*
Martha Stewart’s comment about Thanksgiving wasn’t the only thing creating chaos recently.
Another outage caused havoc for many internet users this week.
On Tuesday, Cloudflare- which manages about ⅕ of internet traffic, experienced an outage. The outage was due to an automatically generated configuration file that was designed to manage security threats. According to the company, the file grew to large and crashed the system handling traffic in several Cloudflare services.
Because of the outages, users were prevented from using several platforms including Canva, X, and ChatGPT.
The company claims that there is no evidence that this was the result of a malicious attack and services have been mostly restored since. But, like the Amazon cloud service outage from last month, it shows how fragile the internet can be.
*Dashboard hands you the cup, and the steam comfortingly fills your senses. As you take a sip, you make a face at the bitterness of the apple cider. An acquired taste, for sure.*
