Week Twelve

*A performer is entertaining a small audience on a stage that has been set up in the corner of the cafe. The audience listens intently as the performer reads off prose in rhythmic stanzas. As you cross over to the counter to order, you notice signs that say “Open Mic Night Tonight”.

Dashboard greets you in a whisper as you approach.*

Welcome to Bandwidth and Brew: where we serve up your weekly scroll fuel, no matter how you take your brew!

I’m glad you finally made it to one of our open mic nights!

Want me to place you on the list to perform?

*You shake your head. You didn’t come into today to show off or to embarrass yourself.*

Of course not.

You are here for your weekly scroll fuel.

I have a few specials going on because of the event. The first one is sure to dazzle you.

*You nod, intrigued as you wait for Dashboard to explain.*

See, a new season of “Dancing with the Stars” came out recently.

And you should see some of the dancers!

One set of dancers stood out amongst the group during the premiere of the 2025 season.

Robert Irwin – son of the late Steve Irwin – joined the “Dancing with the Stars” cast this year. His sister, Bindi Irwin, was the winner of the show about 10 years ago. So there were some high expectations for Robert as he took his spot on the stage for the first time.

And, wow, did he meet those expectations!

You can watch the performance in this article from TODAY. The article features the judge’s reaction and their high praise for the amazing performance including how one of the judges claimed that it was the best first performance they had seen on the show.

What do you say? Want to have a sip of this shocking performance?

*Though watching Robert Irwin dance does appeal to you, you are curious of what other options that barista is offering tonight. You ask Dashboard to list another possibility to you.*

I see. Not all of us might be able to handle that performance.

I have just the thing for you.

See, Robert Irwin isn’t the only thing that needs to keep up performance under pressure.

As AI increasingly becomes a part of our normal day lives, can our bandwidth handle the pressure?

Can I interest you in a sip of this information?

*Curious, you nod your head. Dashboard grabs a mug sitting on the shelves, turns to the espresso machine, and gets to work.*

According to an article by RCRWirelessNews, AI success relies heavily on low-latency bandwidth as it does consume bandwidth – it can change network traffic unpredictably. AI requires networks that are advanced enough to support the software through disruptions, identify metrics that are slowing the software down, and identify causes of critical incidents such as cyberattacks.

In other words, resilience in a network is no longer a luxury.

It is a necessity.

Networks must now be rethought in order to provide a foundation for AI to thrive. Telecom leaders must work together to achieve this resilience in networks in order to share the best practices to achieve such networks. Moving forward, engineers will need to create systems that can withstand all the traffic, disruptions, and equipment failures that AI creates in current systems.

From here on, networks will have to put on show-stopping performances.

*Dashboard hands you the small cup of espresso: a drink perfect for raising your energy for any performances you may have to put on.*
